The Technical Office

The Technical Office of the National Population Committee (NPCTO)

 The technical office was formed as per the National Population Committee resolution No. (3/2000), issued on 2/2/2000. The technical office is entrusted with the task of facilitating all activities aiming for the formulation of the national population strategy, its implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The office also undertakes the setting up of perceptions and proposals to address the population problems and submit them to the national committee rapporteur to be submitted to the committee for discussion and approval.

       Functions of the technical office :-

1. Technical coordination and participation with various authorities in all stages of the formulation of the national population strategy.

2. Follow-up the execution of the national population committee decisions and submission of periodic reports to the committee rapporteur.

3. Compilation and classification of the studies conducted by concerned units regarding implementation of population policies and programmes, evaluation of their results and submit them to the rapporteur.

4. Conduction of studies and researches that aim for diagnosing population issues in collaboration with concerned units. Also, evaluation of the censuses data and surveys concerning issues directly related to population strategy and programmes and their usage to evaluate the extent of achievements.

5. Formulation of the general framework for awareness programmes regarding population issues, coordinating the execution of information, cultural and educational efforts, intensifying population contacts at all levels so as to create the positive environment for the population strategy and its various programmes.

6. Organizing specialized seminars and conferences for population issues at the level of Regions and Governorates in coordination with official and unofficial units.

7. Preparation of studies and scientific papers for the Sultanate official delegates that participate in national, regional and international conferences and seminars related to population and development.      

8. Collection of the various indicators that are directly related to population programmes and services; their analysis, diagnosis and assessment, and working with the executive, administrative and financial units in this regard.

9. Submission of studies and research proposals for emergent population problems so as to formulate policies, procedures and progrmmes that limit their impacts or prevent their accumulation.

10. Reviewing and monitoring the sectoral budgets components to identify the allocations for population programmes and activities assigned to each sector and defining their efficiency to achieve their implementation requirements.
